BiP wins new MOD contract
22 November 2011
Leading UK procurement specialist BiP Solutions has continued its long-term relationship with the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) after winning a major new contract.
BiP successfully bid for a tender which will see the launch of MOD Defence Contracts Online (DCO) – a new and innovative service which will provide suppliers with details of the UK MOD’s competitive contract opportunities with a value of over £10,000. MOD DCO replaces the former MOD Defence Contracts Bulletin (MOD DCB) online service at www.contracts.mod.uk.
Also launched alongside MOD DCO is the MOD’s DCO eNotice service, which will allow all MOD commercial staff to input contract notice data once and for that data to be re-used many times, to meet the MOD’s procurement advertising policy. MOD DCO eNotice connects MOD buyers to not only the MOD DCO website, but also other services such as Contracts Finder and the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
Both MOD DCO and the MOD DCO eNotice service will be provided to the MOD free of charge. A number of optional, value-added services will be available as upgrades for users of MOD DCO, providing access to defence and security contracts from across the UK, Europe and worldwide. The MOD Defence Contracts Bulletin (MOD DCB) publication will also continue to be available under subscription. The contract runs until November 2015.
BiP Solutions’ Publishing Director Grahame Steed said: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with the UK MOD. The launch of MOD DCO underlines the MOD’s ongoing commitment to engaging with its wider supply base to drive innovation and value for money. The MOD DCO service will benefit the entire defence supply chain and fits with the Government’s Transparency Agenda – highlighting opportunities, for SMEs in particular, to participate in a sector worth £14 billion in 2010. MOD DCO and MOD DCO eNotice position the MOD as a forward-thinking government department and BiP is pleased to be playing an important role in achieving this.”
