CBI Scotland Business Summit help firms to go for gold
21 April 2010
BiP Solutions Ltd – the leading provider of cutting-edge solutions and services that help optimise supply chain value – has announced that the most successful Olympic cyclist of all time, Sir Chris Hoy MBE, will join business leaders from across Scotland at the inaugural CBI Scotland Business Summit. Scheduled to take place on 2 June at the Glasgow Hilton Hotel, the CBI Scotland Summit is the first stand-alone event of its kind north of the border and will address the major issues affecting the country as it emerges from the economic downturn and confronts a much altered commercial environment.
Organised by Glasgow-based BiP Solutions – the company behind the highly successful Procurex Scotland exhibition – the Summit will provide a platform for experts to recount their experiences on the route to success, offer advice to delegates seeking to grow their organisation, and offer practical tips for business managers, owners, professionals and executives eager to prosper in the current economic climate.
The inaugural event boasts an impressive list of high-profile speakers including Jim Mather MSP, Minister for Enterprise Energy and Tourism; Alastair Merrill, Director of Procurement, Scottish Government; Niall Stuart, CEO, Scottish Renewables; Gordon MacIntyre Kemp, Founder and MD, Intelligise; Iain McMillan, Director, CBI Scotland; and John Rendall, CEO, HSBC Scotland.
Special guest Sir Chris Hoy MBE will draw on his unparalleled achievements and address business delegates on how to maximise their potential when working as an individual or as part of a team.
Simon Burges, Sales and Marketing Director at BiP, said: “The idea for the CBI Scotland Business Summit came after the overwhelming success of the business summit which we incorporated into last year’s Procurex Scotland exhibition. Many of the 3000-plus delegates at Procurex Scotland were eager to attend the business summit and hear leading business experts discuss key issues affecting the country’s enterprises.
“The CBI operates one of the most highly regarded business summits in the UK and it made sense to approach them with the idea of organising a Scotland-specific event.
“Scottish firms have a lot to offer both within the UK and at the international level. Events like this help drive the ambitions of the country’s organisations and offer delegates the chance to discover the opportunities that exist within today’s business marketplace, while learning how to overcome some of the challenges currently facing the business community.”
