BiP Solutions wins major Scottish Government event contract

6 April 2010

BiP Solutions Ltd (BiP) – the leading provider of cutting-edge solutions and services that help optimise supply chain value – is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the contract to host the Scottish Government’s National Public Procurement Conference from 2010 to 2013, together with associated events.

This award is testament to the successful events management service that BiP has provided over recent years. BiP previously managed the event from 2006 to 2009, and was awarded this contract under the Scottish Ministers multi-supplier framework for the provision of Marketing and Event Management Services, which was established in 2008.

Public procurement will increasingly play a key role in supporting sustainable economic growth over the coming years. The challenging economic conditions facing Scotland will require a sharpening focus on the importance of effective procurement operations and performance.

The John F McClelland Review of Public Procurement in Scotland recommended that there should be a national platform to showcase public procurement. The Scottish Government National Public Procurement Conference was created to answer that need. Since BiP started to manage the event in 2006 it has expanded significantly to draw over 600 delegates from across the Scottish public sector and supply chain.

The Scottish Government National Public Procurement Conference exists therefore to provide an opportunity for those within public procurement to hear how organisations and individuals from across the public sector are meeting the current challenges and what lessons can be learned from those involved in reforming procurement practices and performance.

The annual event attracts a high-level audience including heads of procurement, as well as prominent speakers. Past speakers have included: John Swinney MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth; Alastair Merrill, Director, Scottish Procurement Directorate; Paul McNulty, Head of Policy, Scottish Procurement Directorate; John F McClelland, author of the Review of Public Procurement in Scotland; Ian Howie, Head of Procurement Scotland; and Brian Taylor, Political Editor, BBC Scotland.

BiP Solutions optimises supply chain value by building knowledge and capacity across supply communities. In addition to the Scottish Government National Public Procurement Conference, BiP’s events management service organises a wide range of client events, including the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD)’s Defence Research event, Annual Conferences for the Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government, Health Care Supply Association, London Contracts and Supplies Group and the Central Buying Consortium, as well as procurement training workshops.

Simon Burges, Sales and Marketing Director at BiP Solutions, said: “Events management is an important part of BiP’s business, and we are very pleased that our expertise and experience in this area has been recognised with this important contract win. We have delivered a number of successful events for public sector bodies across the UK in the past and look forward to continuing to work with the Scottish Government on their events in the future."

The 2010 Conference promises to be an exciting event and BiP looks forward to working in partnership with the Scottish Government to deliver a successful programme.
