Judging Panel confirmed for GO Awards Scotland

As interest continues to build in the Government Opportunities (GO) magazine Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland 2009, the organisers have announced the individuals who will make up the judging panel for entries.

The GO Awards Scotland recognise innovation, excellence and achievement in Scottish public procurement. Now in their second year, the Awards bring together the public, private and third sectors to celebrate outstanding successes in this critical area of public service delivery, which is worth up to £15bn annually.

Organised by supply chain specialists BiP Solutions – the publisher of GO magazine – the GO Awards Scotland are held as part of the Procurex Scotland event which takes place at the SECC in Glasgow on 28 and 29 October. The GO Awards Scotland will be presented at a ceremony on the evening of 28 October, with many of Scotland’s leading figures from the public procurement community in attendance.

The GO Awards judging panel has the task of deciding which of the many entries in each category should go on to be Highly Commended or a Winner. The categories cover areas such as innovation, collaboration, sustainability and social procurement and individual and team excellence.

The judging panel for the 2009 Awards comprises of individuals from the public and private sectors, with expertise in a variety of areas. It includes Duncan Eaton, former Chief Executive of the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency and Chair of BiP Solutions’ Strategic Advisory Board; Barry Graham, Head of the Central Government Centre of Procurement Expertise (CGCoPE); John McClelland CBE, author of the Review of Public Procurement in Scotland and the most recent recipient of the National GO Lifetime Achievement Award; Iain McMillan CBE, Chief Executive of CBI Scotland; Paul McNulty, Deputy Director of the Scottish Procurement Directorate at the Scottish Government; Jim Miller, Director of Strategic Sourcing at NHS Scotland; and Angus Warren, Chief Executive of Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC). Further members will be announced shortly.
