BiP’s Procurex event a huge success

31 October 2008

BiP Solutions has successfully staged the largest event in the company’s near 25 year history.

Procurex 2008, which took place at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC) in Glasgow on 29 and 30 October, exceeded targets for delegate and exhibitor attendance. Over 5000 delegates pre-registered for the event, and exhibition space was sold out.

The theme of Procurex 2008 was ‘Building business through collaboration’. In addition to a two day exhibition attended by public and private sector organisations, the event hosted two major conferences - the Scottish Government’s National Public Procurement Conference and the Government Opportunities (GO) magazine Scottish Business Summit. Both conferences attracted a number of high-profile speakers, including John Swinney, Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth; Jim Mather, Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism; John McClelland, author of the Review of Public Procurement in Scotland; John Scott, Chief Executive, Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games; and Nick Bowd, Director of the Scottish Procurement Directorate.

The National Public Procurement Conference was followed by the presentation of the inaugural GO Awards Scotland, which recognise excellence in public procurement in the region. Full details of the Awards winners can be found at www.goawards.co.uk

The GO Scottish Business Summit provided delegates with a rare opportunity to hear from those directly involved in the delivery of both the London 2012 Olympic Games and the 2014 Commonwealth Games, taking place in Glasgow.

Simon Burges, Sales and Marketing Director at BiP Solutions, said: “Procurex has been a tremendous success, and demonstrates the potential that exists within the Scottish marketplace for businesses to work with the public sector and each other as part of the wider supply chain. We are delighted with the response to this event, and look forward to an even stronger Procurex in 2009.”

Grahame Steed, Managing Editor of GO, said: “The inaugural GO Awards had a fantastic response, and have set the benchmark for future entries. On the evidence of the submissions received, Scotland’s aim of being a great place to do business with government is in good shape.”

Procurex 2009 will take place on 27 and 28 October at the SECC. Further information can be found at www.procurexscotland.co.uk
