Winners announced in GO Awards Scotland 2008
31 October 2008
Ten Scottish organisations have been honoured for outstanding achievement at the inaugural Government Opportunities (GO) magazine Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland 2008.
The GO Awards Scotland, organised by public procurement experts BiP Solutions, recognise the outstanding contribution that procurement professionals – and the organisations which support them – make to the effective delivery of public services in Scotland.
The Awards were presented at a special ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Glasgow on the evening of 29 October. The ceremony followed the Scottish Government’s National Public Procurement Conference, which had been held as part of Procurex, Scotland’s first dedicated private and public sector procurement exhibition.
The GO Awards Scotland categories recognised achievements in sustainability, corporate social responsibility, healthcare procurement, collaborative procurement and service delivery. There were also Awards for individual and team excellence.
The judging panel for the GO Awards Scotland comprised a number of leading figures from the Scottish procurement and business communities: Brian Baverstock, Chief Executive of APUC Ltd; Nick Bowd, Director of the Scottish Procurement Directorate; Duncan Eaton, former Chief Executive of NHS PASA; John McClelland, author of the Review of Public Procurement in Scotland; Iain McMillan, Director, CBI Scotland; Jim Miller, Strategic Sourcing Director, NHS Scotland; Dr Lesley Sawers, CEO of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry; and Grahame Steed, Managing Editor, GO magazine.
