BiP Solutions, a leading provider of electronic business information services for the public and private sectors, has successfully secured £800,000 of Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grant funding from the Scottish Government. The funding will be used to help it not only secure its current workforce, but also deliver up to 100 new jobs for the West of Scotland over the next three years.

The Glasgow-based company, which currently employs 160 staff at its premises in Shawfield, near Rutherglen, will initiate a programme of expansion as a result of the RSA funding, committing to over £1million of capital expenditure. The company will move its entire operation to the Medius Building – a much larger premises in Glasgow’s prestigious new Digital Media Quarter at Pacific Quay – where it will join other leading media organisations such as the BBC and STV.

BiP Solutions has a track record of strong, sustainable growth. Its results to the end of the 2007/08 financial year were the most successful in the company’s history, showing continued growth across all of its product sectors, with sales again achieving double-digit increases and a continued rise in profits. The move to the Medius Building will take place in early 2009, coinciding with the company’s 25th anniversary.

Jim Mather, Scottish Government Enterprise Minister said:

"One hundred new jobs at BiP Solutions is a massive boost for the West of Scotland economy and particularly good news at a time when economies across the world are feeling the effects of a downturn.

"It provides further evidence of resilience in the Scottish economy and this government is determined to provide opportunities for all of Scotland to flourish through increased sustainable economic growth.

"That’s why RSA is an important tool in supporting job creation and innovative projects of this kind."

"I wish all involved every success."

Liz Connolly, Regional Operations Director at Scottish Enterprise said:

"Scottish Enterprise worked closely with BiP Solutions on all aspects of their RSA application and this announcement is very welcome news. It represents a significant investment for the company helping to create and safeguard jobs and support their business expansion plans."

"At Scottish Enterprise we have clear focus on supporting those companies which have significant growth potential and are important to the economy. We have a close working relationship with BiP Solutions and have assisted them in a number of areas including internationalisation, management development and innovation support. We will continue to work with the company to help them realise their ambitious plans for growth."

Commenting on the grant funding and forthcoming expansion programme, Ron Burges, CEO of BiP Solutions said: “We are delighted to have been granted the RSA grant from the Scottish Government. This investment is a tangible recognition of the success of BiP, the dedication and expertise of our staff and the quality of the leading edge services we provide. By making the grant available, the Scottish Government has placed its confidence in BiP’s future development, which will deliver more opportunities for local people to become part of our success."

"Our impressive new HQ at Pacific Quay provides BiP with a platform of opportunity, offering not only a state of the art facility that reflects BiP’s ambition, but more importantly, the space to expand and deliver new and innovative services to a growing market, both nationally and internationally.

"While we recognise that the current economic climate is challenging; supported by the RSA grant we look forward with confidence and excitement to what the company can achieve over the coming years. Despite the recessionary pressures our new HQ will help us sustain continued solid growth through our ethos of innovation and high-quality service delivery. Like me, everyone at BiP feels invigorated by the prospects that await us as a company."
