BiP guides customers through CPV code changes

17 September 2008

BiP Solutions has successfully guided its customers through the changeover process as the European Union updated its Common Procurement Vocabulary (CPV) codes from the 2003 version to the 2007 version on 17 September.

CPV 2007 sees the introduction of thousands of new codes and descriptions, with a significant number of existing codes being reused for new requirements.

Customers of BiP’s range of products and services were kept fully informed at all stages of the process as the new system replaced the old.

The company’s Delta suite of e-tendering services – including Project, Vault, Select Accredit and aXcess – automatically incorporated the changes, easing the burden for public sector clients. Users of BiP’s contract information services such as Tracker, Contrax and Defense Contracts International also had their profiles automatically updated in order to work with the new CPV codes.

BiP raised awareness of the changes with a far-reaching communications campaign, deployed across its print and electronic media.

Grahame Steed, Production Director at BiP Solutions, said: “The change from CPV 2003 to CPV 2007 was a significant undertaking, having a fundamental effect on how all of our many customers – both buyers and suppliers – create and receive contract information. We brought BiP’s considerable resources to bear on this project – including Contracts Management, IT, Marketing, Customer Support and Communications – and are pleased that it has had a successful outcome.”
