BiP Solutions a finalist in Scottish 'business Oscars'
20 June 2007
BiP Solutions has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Small to Medium-Sized Business of the Year category of this year's prestigious National Business Awards for Scotland.
The National Business Awards have been dubbed the ‘business Oscars’ by Chancellor Gordon Brown, and this is the second time in three years that BiP Solutions has been amongst the elite band of finalists in its most hotly contested category.
The Awards, sponsored by Orange, allow the very best of Scottish businesses to showcase their achievements and benchmark their successes against firms and bodies of all types. Each year, the Awards recognise and reward excellence, innovation and success, and celebrate the effect of new ideas for improving efficiency, productivity and delivery on the wider Scottish economy. The total entry in the 2006 event had a combined turnover of £22 billion, generated profits of £8.3 billion (which accounts for around 30 per cent of Scotland’s GDP) and employed over 300,000 people.
A nomination for such a prestigious award is clear recognition of BiP’s reputation for excellence and innovation. With a client base including national and international government departments, agencies and private sector organisations, BiP Solutions is recognised as a leading provider of procurement solutions and market intelligence services and has used its knowledge and experience on behalf of a range of high-profile clients, including the Department of Trade and Industry (as supplier of the national lower-value contracts portal www.supply2.gov.uk), the Ministry of Defence and the Home Office, as well as a number of Scottish public sector organisations. International clients include the European Defence Agency, the United Arab Emirates Army and Kenya’s Ministry of Education.
Grahame Steed, Media Director at BiP Solutions, said: “BiP Solutions is delighted to have been announced as a finalist in the Small to Medium-Sized Business of the Year category. We are pleased that the judges have recognised the success of a Glasgow-based media company on a national and international stage, and in a market sector where innovation and service delivery are paramount.
“The status of finalist in these Awards demonstrates the quality of BiP’s people and its services, and is a great recognition of the achievements of the company and its entire staff. We look forward to presenting the case for BiP winning this Award to the National Business Awards judging panel.”
Neil Laidler, Interim Vice President Business Services at Orange UK, said: "I am constantly impressed by the quantity and quality of the entries for the National Business Awards for Scotland. The entrants demonstrate enthusiasm and motivation to succeed and I challenge anyone who doesn’t believe Scottish businesses are at the vanguard of innovation and growth to meet with these finalists. All the finalists of the Awards have shown passion, determination and originality - we wish them all luck in the final rounds of judging."
