Key Information

BiP Solutions

  • BiP Solutions (BiP) is a leading provider of public sector procurement solutions. The company's services are all inter-related and supportive of one another.
  • BiP has been a profitable enterprise in each of its 23 years of trading.
  • Between 2001 and 2007, the number of employees at BiP has more than quadrupled, from 35 to 180.
  • The market and legislative environment in which BiP currently operates will allow for rapid expansion of demand for its services across the whole of the European Union. The new EU Consolidated Public Procurement Directive, which came into force in the UK in January 2006, will be a key driver for BiP's services.
  • Independent market research conducted in 2007 showed that BiP's Contrax Weekly service publishes on average 150% more UK contracts than the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Its sister title, Contrax Weekly Ireland, publishes on average 668% more Irish contracts than the OJEU.
  • In the first six months of 2006, BiP sent more UK contract notices to the OJEU through its electronic contract notice creation system Project (part of BiP's Delta e-tendering system) than all other UK-based e-senders combined. It also sent more notices than any other European country or organisation, with the single exception of the French government.
  • During 2006, over 4200 delegates attended a BiP procurement event.
  • Over 500 UK public sector organisations use modules of BiP's Delta e-tendering service. These include the Home Office, the Department for Communities and Local Government (formerly the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister) and the Ministry of Defence.
  • The London Olympics in 2012 will provide a huge stimulus for public sector procurement and new business development, both of which BiP is well positioned to capitalise on.

  • In August 2006, BiP was awarded a contract for the development, implementation and support of an e-tendering portal for the UAE Army.
  • In March 2006, BiP was awarded a contract from the European Defence Agency to conduct a study into requirements for an electronic marketplace for defence equipment in Europe.
  • Also in March 2006 BiP was awarded a three-year contract by the Scottish Executive to host a number of high-profile events. The Scottish Executive's first Procurement Directorate National Conference was held in October 2006.
  • In January 2006 BiP was awarded a five-year contract by the Small Business Service (then part of the Department of Trade and Industry, now part of the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform ) to create, manage and commercially exploit a UK Government internet-based lower-value public sector contract opportunities service. The Supply2.gov.uk portal was successfully launched in July 2006 and there were over 58,000 registered users at September 2007.
  • During 2006, contracts previously held by BiP to provide website, marketing and events services for the Society of Procurement Officers in Local Government and the Health Care Supply Association were subject to re-tender. BiP was re-awarded each of these contracts for a further three years.
  • In the summer of 2005, the company entered into a unique agreement with The Stationery Office (TSO), under the terms of which it will help TSO develop its sales of procurement-related publications and related information services.
